Meet Heidi Sorensen
Firm Administrator
Video
Heidi Sorensen has been a dedicated and essential member of Moore, Schulman & Moore, APC for more than three decades. Her history with the firm began in 1991, when she started working for Peggy Moore as a receptionist and legal secretary in a small Mission Valley office. At that time, Ms. Moore was a sole practitioner whose work focused primarily on juvenile dependency and minor’s counsel matters. As the firm evolved, so did Heidi’s role.
In 1995, Erik Moore joined the practice after completing law school, and the firm’s focus began shifting toward family law. Heidi continued to grow with the firm, serving as a legal assistant, paralegal, billing manager, office manager, and ultimately Firm Administrator. When Moore & Moore joined forces with Lewis & Schulman in 2000, and later became the firm now known as Moore, Schulman & Moore, APC, Heidi remained a constant presence through every stage of growth, transition, and success.
Today, Heidi plays a central role in the operations, culture, and long-term success of MSM. Her work extends far beyond traditional firm administration. She helps oversee the daily function of the firm, supports attorneys and staff, assists with client-facing systems, manages key administrative responsibilities, and contributes to the strategic growth of the firm. Her perspective is shaped by decades of firsthand experience in family law, firm management, client service, and team development.
Heidi has been instrumental in helping MSM grow its reputation as one of San Diego’s respected family law firms. Her ability to understand people, anticipate needs, and create systems that support both clients and professionals has made her an invaluable part of the firm’s foundation. She brings a rare combination of practical judgment, emotional intelligence, loyalty, creativity, and follow-through to everything she does.
One of Heidi’s greatest strengths is her ability to help create an environment where people can do their best work. She understands that the culture of a law firm affects not only the attorneys and staff, but also the clients who come to the firm during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Heidi helps ensure that MSM remains professional, efficient, welcoming, and grounded in the personal attention that has long been part of the firm’s identity.
Her contributions can be seen throughout the firm, including in projects that reach well beyond her official title. Heidi has taken on significant operational and leadership responsibilities, from helping negotiate and coordinate office transitions to overseeing office design choices that reflect the firm’s values. She has helped create workspaces that are technologically current, remote-ready, inviting to clients, supportive of attorneys and staff, and reflective of the warmth and personality of the MSM team. Her attention to detail includes everything from functional conference spaces and modern technology to artwork, furniture, lighting, nursing rooms, and the relaxed coastal character that helps make the office feel approachable and welcoming.
Heidi is also deeply committed to mentorship. She enjoys supporting women in firm administration and helping others build confidence, professionalism, and leadership skills. That same mentoring spirit extends into her personal life, where she encourages and teaches women in horseback riding and equestrian skills. Whether in the office or at the barn, Heidi finds reward in helping others grow, gain confidence, and recognize their own ability.
Outside the firm, Heidi has a love for horsepower in all its forms. She is a classic car enthusiast and the proud owner of a 1965 Impala named Agnes, which she is restoring. She also rides a 2007 Heritage Softail Classic and enjoys time with her four-legged rides: her horses Beamer, Mac, and Strat, a track Thoroughbred. Her personal passions reflect the same qualities she brings to her work: patience, grit, independence, attention to detail, and a deep appreciation for things with character.
At the heart of everything Heidi does is her deep care for people. She is devoted to her employees, family, and friends, and that loyalty is reflected in the way she leads, mentors, supports, and shows up for those around her.
After more than three decades with Moore, Schulman & Moore, APC, Heidi remains one of the firm’s most trusted leaders and culture keepers. Her steady presence, practical insight, and deep commitment to people continue to shape the firm’s operations, client experience, and enduring sense of purpose.
