Miguel A. Delgado is an associate attorney at Moore Schulman and Moore, APC, where he exclusively practices family law. Miguel represents clients in divorce, child custody, support, and domestic violence matters with a client-centered approach that combines strong advocacy, clarity, and compassion. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Miguel can effectively represent and communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they fully understand their rights, options, and the legal process at every stage of their case.

As a first-generation law graduate, Miguel brings a deep understanding of the cultural, emotional, and financial challenges many families face when navigating the legal system. His commitment to family law began before law school, after witnessing a close family member’s divorce and observing how profoundly legal representation can affect a family’s future. That experience impressed upon him the importance of having counsel who is not only skilled, but also approachable, patient, and attentive to each client’s unique circumstances.

Education & Experience

During law school at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Miguel gravitated toward advocacy and courtroom practice. In his Trial Practice course, he developed strong litigation fundamentals, including direct and cross-examination, evidentiary strategy, and effective courtroom presentation, which closely mirrored the work he performed during his criminal defense internship at a private defense firm. He was drawn to the responsibility of telling a client’s story clearly and persuasively, particularly in emotionally charged matters where credibility and preparation are critical.

During that criminal defense internship, he assisted in the preparation of cases at both the state and federal levels, observed courtroom proceedings, and helped draft memoranda and motions related to pretrial matters and sentencing. Working directing with defense counsel, Miguel saw firsthand how effective advocacy, careful attention to detail, and strategic storytelling can shape outcomes for clients facing serious consequences. That experienced sharpened his ability to analyze facts critically, assess credibility, and advocate under pressure—skills that translate directly to family law proceedings.

Miguel further strengthened his interest in family law by completing a Family Law elective taught by a practicing family-law attorney. This course provided a realistic, practice-oriented perspective on divorce, child custody, support, and domestic violence proceedings. Through real-world examples and procedural insight, Miguel gained a deeper appreciation for how family law attorneys must balance legal strategy with empathy, professionalism, and clear communication, especially when children and long-term family stability are at stake.

After graduating magna cum laude, Miguel gained hands-on experience through volunteer work with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and the San Diego Family Justice Center. There, he assisted clients under attorney supervision with restraining orders, custody matters, and divorce proceedings. He conducted client interviews, drafted declarations and legal documents, and regularly provided Spanish–English translation services to ensure non-English-speaking clients could meaningfully participate in their cases. Miguel is known for remaining calm and objective in emotionally charged situations, guiding clients toward practical, law-driven solutions while remaining sensitive to their concerns.

Miguel is committed to long-term growth in family law and to providing accessible, ethical, and effective representation to individuals and families throughout San Diego County.

Life After Work

Outside of his legal practice, Miguel enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, and traveling internationally. He stays active through running, hiking along San Diego’s coastline, and playing pickleball.\
