Ms. Sanscartier’s approach to Family Law is straightforward: She knows from experience that for a client to receive the highest quality of service possible, she and each client must form an effective team that brings together Ms. Sanscartier’s background, training and expertise with the unique facts of each client’s case. The facts of each case are gathered during an initial meeting where the client is encouraged to share every detail of the history of their case so that, from the beginning, Ms. Sanscartier can appreciate all that has gone into the client’s decision to retain an attorney.
This teamwork is something that continues from day one to the end of the case. A hallmark of Ms. Sanscartier practice is her empowerment of each client so that he or she understands just how important it is to the effective prosecution of their case that both attorney and client engage in continuous and effective communication.
Ms. Sanscartier was born in Canada and immigrated to the United States at a young age. She is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with an emphasis in Law & Society, and a Minor in Sociology. She attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego where she received her Juris Doctor and graduated Cum Laude. During law school, Ms. Sanscartier was the Senior Editor of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review and the Managing Editor of the school newspaper, The Jeffersonian, while simultaneously receiving academic awards and honors.
Also, while attending law school, Ms. Sanscartier was a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Michael D. Washington, Judge of the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of San Diego, a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Catherine M. DiDomenico, of the Richmond County, New York, Supreme Court and volunteered her time at both the Family Law Facilitator’s Office and the Legal Aid Domestic Violence Clinic where she received recognition from the State Bar of California for her pro bono legal services in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Ms. Sanscartier knows that the best result for almost every client is to resolve the Family Law issues at hand by settlement rather than litigation. Some attorneys choose to describe themselves as “aggressive” or as someone who will “fight” for you. Ms. Sanscartier understands that certain cases do not settle and she is fully capable of representing a client’s interests in any contested proceeding. But the fact of the matter is that litigation is the most expensive, by far, method by which to resolve disputes. As any Judge will say, a Judge steps in only when the clients can’t or won’t resolve their issues using their attorneys to guide them to an out of court resolution.
